CargoPort of Oslo can handle cargo in all shapes and sizes. To give you a general idea, Port of Oslo handles over 500.000 tonnes of cement , and up to 200.000 tonnes of grain annually. A substantial number of new vehicles is imported through the port. There is also a growing trade in used cars by many private operators. An increasing amount of the general cargo to Oslo is coming in containers handled by cranes. Lift-on lift-off (LO/LO) container handling is the fastest growing cargo activity in the port. Still, half of the general cargo is transported by ferries and other ships - roll-on-roll-off (RO/RO). Oslo harbour also provides safe handling and storage of oil in large volumes. Half the country's oil supplies arrives by tankers through Oslo. |
